NEWCASTLE

This community is located along Interstate 80 and is divided by the interstate running through it. Newcastle is situated Northeast of Penryn, Southwest of Auburn with convenient access to highway 193 and highway 49. Newcastle was settled over 150 years ago and experienced several periods of growth. This community, like many of its neighbors, was heavily influenced by the expansion of the Transcontinental Railroad in the 1800s and was an important stop along the rail lines to ship out fruits grown in neighboring community's orchards.

Today Newcastle is a quiet community situated in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains at 945 feet elevation. Residents here enjoy the peaceful views from their homes, the convenience of being so close to major shopping centers in Roseville and Auburn and the easy commute to Sacramento. My favorite things about Newcastle are the colorful sunsets in the evenings and the drive up Taylor road and into the tunnel or the view from Indian Hill Road.
