This gold rush era community is located off Interstate 80 and is accessible via Foresthill Road. On your way into the community, you will soon cross Foresthill Bridge which is where the Vin Diesel action movie XXX bridge scene was filmed. As you cross the bridge, the landscape drops away beneath you where you will find yourself between the North Fork and the Middle Forks of the American River. Forest Hill is a scenic place with numerous historical buildings you will see as you drive into town.
This is a mountainous community and is situated at 3228 feet elevation where snow is plentiful in the winter and the summers are enjoyable. You will find that homes in this community are often situated on acreage and most homes are served by propane tanks, wells for water and septic systems. In many cases all you would need to go off grid would be solar and a backup battery. There are many hiking trails and places to ride dirt bikes, horses, ATVs and four wheelers and so many other activities.
